Uwais Iqbal is an AI practitioner with the best part of a decade's worth of experience designing and building AI systems in the legal sector. He has held roles as a Machine Learning Engineer and a Senior NLP Data Scientist at leading legal tech startups as well as a corporate innovation lab. Uwais is currently the Founder & CEO of simplexico - The Legal AI Consultancy. He is on a mission to demystify AI for the legal profession so they can step into a future of collaboration with AI.

Maarten Truyens| ClauseBase

Maarten Truyens is a former IT lawyer who combines a passion for technology with more than a decade of professional experience in information technology law. Maarten is the founder and CTO of ClauseBase, which develops legal drafting tools ClauseBuddy and Clause9. He is known for his outspoken vision on legal information technology.

Mark Zijlstra| ICT Recht

Mark Zijlstra is Head of Legal Technology. In this role, Mark advises on the intersection of content, technology and operations. His activities consist of optimizing legal departments to increase efficiency and throughput and reduce costs. In recent years, Mark has fulfilled several roles as (interim) General Counsel. During this period, he further immersed himself in Legal Operations and made various legal departments more efficient and effective, thus creating added value for the organization. Within ICTRecht, he uses this experience to make legal departments better and more efficient by advising on the use of technology.

Prof. Dr. Eva Lievens| Ghent University

Prof. Dr. Eva Lievens is an Associate Professor of Law & Technology at Ghent University and a member of the Human Rights Centre. She researches the legal impact of technology design and deployment, human and children’s rights in the digital environment, and alternative regulatory instruments. At Ghent University, Eva teaches ‘Law & Technology’, ‘European Law & ICT’, ‘European Media Law’, ‘Cybercrime, Technology & Surveillance’, and ‘Data Protection Law’. She is the associate editor for the International Encyclopaedia of Laws - Media Law (edited by Prof. Peggy Valcke), and a member of the Editorial Board of the IT & Law Series (T.M.C. Asser Press) and Computer Law & Security Review.

Karol Valencia| WOW Legal Experience

Karol Valencia is a multifaceted professional with experience in law, education, UX & service design, and full-stack development. She's the proud co-founder of WOW Legal Experience, here she designs innovative solutions in the legal and justice sector. Currently, she started working at ClauseBase as a marketing and communication specialist. With over 10 years of experience, including 8 in legal tech, Karol collaborates to enhance services and products. Her educational journey encompasses a Law Degree and a Master’s in Business Management & CSR, complemented by ongoing studies pursuing an international MBA in Project Management.
